The story. The leaf sheep is a sea slug barely a quarter inch long, so new to science it was only discovered off the coast of Kuroshima, Japan in 1993. It steals chloroplasts from the algae it eats and uses them to make energy from sunlight, like a plant. Scientists call that kleptoplasty. Kids call it the best word they've ever said out loud.
